The IBDP Visual Arts course is a 2 year programme that students undertake in Grade 11 & 12. The emphasis here is on the development of a coherent artistic practice. Students are assessed in 3 interrelated areas:

Theoretical Practice, Art Making Practice, and Curatorial Practice.

Students are required to create work in a range of media and techniques, and relate their own art making practices to those of other artists from different time periods and cultures. During the course of the programme, students will develop a range of pertinent skills and techniques as they become increasingly autonomous in their research and art making, producing original artwork that is personally relevant.

There are 3 components that are submitted for assessment:

Exhibition (40% internally assessed)

Process Portfolio (40% externally assessed)

Comparative Study (20% externally assessed)
